About
The Birmingham Country Club Scholarship Trust is an educational fund established by the Members of Birmingham Country Club to assist deserving Birmingham Country Club caddies and employees with their higher education costs.
History
The Trust provides annual awards of up to $2,000 each to employees and caddies. The Trust was founded in 1993 as a way to express our gratitude to the Club’s staff for their service by supporting their pursuit of higher education. In 2011, the Trustees established the Des Crowley Memorial Scholarship, in memory of BCC’s longtime golf services manager and caddie master. This $3,000 scholarship is earmarked for caddies and golf services staff only who are exemplary contributors to the BCC Golf Experience in tribute to Des and the standards he set for his staff. The Trust is funded by Member contributions and investment gains. It stands as a self-perpetuating trust but contributions are needed to ensure its growth.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Birmingham Country Club Scholarship the following qualifications must be met:
- Must have completed your senior year in high school
- Must have a 3.0 or better grade point average in high school, or your last semester in college
- Must be an employee of Birmingham Country Club with a minimum of 250 hours service or a minimum of 50 loops (or a combination of hours worked and loops caddied – 1 loop is equivalent to 4 hours service).
- Must have some financial need
Because it is funded by member contributions and investment gains only we count on our Members to ensure its growth.
