Eagles for Children have raised a total of $2.2 million since its first year!

Birmingham Country Club members can be proud of their part in transforming the lives of children in need.

What is Eagles for Children?

The idea of using one great moment on the golf course, “an eagle,” to benefit thousands – or potentially millions of children in need, inspired program co-founders Hal Zaima and Don Kegley to test the Eagles for Children program at Oakland Hills Country Club in 2012. Three other area clubs agreed to join, and by the end of the season, the clubs had raised nearly $40,000, which was awarded to 14 different children’s charities in the Detroit Metropolitan area.

The Eagles for Children concept is simple:

  • Each member pledges a minimum of $2 for every eagle scored by fellow members and their families at their club.
  • Golfers report their eagles to the pro shop.
  • The club’s accounting department tracks the donations and bills each member according to their tax-deductible pledge per eagle.
  • At the end of the golf season, a committee from your club meets to determine which children’s nonprofit organizations will benefit from the generosity of your membership. 100% of the funds collected from each club is granted out each season.
